MSU Cognitive Science -- The goals of the MSU Cognitive Science Program are twofold: to foster scholarship and research that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries in its pursuit of the nature of mind, and to provide a structure for graduate training that will produce new scholars and scientists who have the tools needed to take on this challenging puzzle.
Linguistic Society of America -- The Linguistic Society of America (LSA) isthe main professional organization of linguists in the United States. Membershipin this organization includes a subscription to the journal Language. Informationabout the Society, as well as the quarterly LSA Bulletin and the Directoryof Linguistics Programs in the USA and Canada are available from this site.
LINGUIST List -- The LINGUIST List is a monitored electronic list of over 6,000 subscribers around the world, which posts announcements of jobs and conferences, book reviews, discussion of linguistic topics, and other subscriber postings. The LINGUIST List web site contains thousands of links to individual, departmental and conference home pages, research and research support sites, publication information, and much much more. It also contains the archives of LINGUIST List postings.
American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) -- The American Association for the Advancement of Science is organized into about 25 interest sections. The one most closely associated with Linguistics is Section Z, Linguistics and Language Sciences. Members of AAAS can join up to three sections, and many Section Z members are also members of Psychology, Anthropology, or Neurosciences. Membership in AAAS allows linguists to influence what the public — including but not limited to colleagues in other sciences — learns about language and related scientific research.
Second Language Studies -- MSU's PhD program in Second Language Studies, housed in the College of Arts and Letters, prepares students to conduct research and teach in a growing field that focuses on second/foreign language learning and teaching.
Language Learning Center -- Containing student computer workstations, an instructor's workstation, a server, a scanner, and laserdisk and video tape players, and housed in the recently-renovated Old Horticulture Building, the Language Learning Center provides a modern environment for teaching languages.
CLEAR -- Center for Language Education and Research: A national foreign language resource center at Michigan State University.
