In order to develop facility with the language and insight into the culture, students are strongly encouraged to spend a significant period of time in Israel as part of their academic program. The Jewish Studies Program at MSU offers a faculty-led month-long program in the summer at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Click here for information and application procedures. For those students interested in going in the summer on their own, or during the regular academic year for a semester or year, the Office of Study Abroad has relations with all the major Israeli institutions with international student programs (Hebrew UniversityHaifa UniversityTel Aviv University and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev).

All MSU students seeking to pursue study at an Israeli institution of higher education and who meet the minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 are eligible to apply for generous scholarships ($1500-2000) administered by the Jewish Studies Program.
